We mourn the loss of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Bernhard Piepenbreier
It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to Prof. Dr. Piepenbreier, who held the Chair of Electrical Drives and Machines from 2000 to 2018.
Over this long period, Prof. Dr. Piepenbreier shaped research and teaching in the field of electric drives at FAU with extraordinary commitment and great professional depth. His work has not only left its mark on the scientific landscape, but also on an important stage in the careers of numerous students and scientific staff whom Prof. Piepenbreier has accompanied and guided.
Prof. Dr. Piepenbreier passed away on July 7, 2025 at the age of just 69.
We have lost a valued scientist, teacher and person. His memory will live on in our department.
